A short reviews of our launch camp in London and our India Camps we ran in Mumbai and Pune in November 2018.
The inaugural TMGA camp took place in London during the first week of August 2018 and we were proud to be launching this at Merchant Taylors’ School - giving all the children a camp experience they would never forget.
We delivered a progressive four-day coaching program designed by Sachin Tendulkar and Middlesex Coaches, and we were delighted that Sachin himself was able to attend and interact with players across two of the days to share some of his knowledge and provide coaching for boys and girls of different ages and abilities.
Camp participants all enjoyed masterclasses delivered by our lead coaches and current Middlesex Cricket professional staff and it was fantastic being a part of a young cricketer’s experience as they were coached by current and ex-players including; Steven Finn, Toby Roland-Jones, Paul Stirling, Tim Murtagh, Stevie Eskinazi, Nick Gubbins, Richard Johnson, Daniel Vettori, to name but a few.
We are really looking forward to heading back to MTS in the future, as the facilities really are second to none and provided high-quality learning for all.
In the words of one of the young players to have benefitted from being coached by Sachin Tendulkar at our London Camp:
“Meeting Sachin Tendulkar was possibly the best experience of my whole life. He’s definitely my inspiration and meeting him was mind blowing”.
Player feedback from across the group from this camp was also strong ranking our "overall coaching" as 4.9 out of 5 and the "venue and facilities" as 4.6 out of 5.
We were delighted to have started the TMGA journey at Merchant Taylors’ and after a rewarding four days of coaching, were already looking forward to our next camps over in India.
After the success of our launch camp in the UK, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai and Pune were chosen as locations to run our next set of high-quality cricket camps, and we delivered the first TMGA Camps in India in November 2018.
We were delighted to be joined by Sachin Tendulkar’s childhood friend, former Indian team mate and batting partner; Vinod Kambli, who joined the TMGA coaching staff for the duration of our camps in India.
Vinod attended every single day of all eight camps and shared some wonderful stories and experiences with players and coaches alike. His energy and knowledge were a real factor in the success of these camps for all the youngsters who attended.
To give camp players access to current English household names, Middlesex Cricket current and former players flew out to India to engage with the children and join the Elite Coaching staff at the camps. Josh Knappett, TMGA’s Head Coach, England and Middlesex’s Dawid Malan, England and Middlesex’s Toby Roland-Jones, former England Test and Middlesex opener Nick Compton all joined the coaching team and shared some wonderful knowledge across the camps.
At TMGA we pride ourselves on the quality of our lead coaching team, which at our India camps included players with Ranji Trophy or international cricket experience and others who have had played significant roles in developing elite level cricketers currently playing international cricket. The coaches were fantastic with the players and encouraged their development in a supportive and fun learning environment.
Our inaugural Indian camps proved an enormous success and the coaching team were hugely impressed with the standard of the cricketers in attendance. The passion displayed throughout was a credit to those who attended.
The TMGA team look forward to announcing the next TMGA camp dates very soon.
Here is just a small snapshot of feedback we received from some of the young cricketers at the India camps:
“The coaching was of a very high standard and I learnt so much”
“Amazing camp and an exceptional coaching team. I have learnt so much which I can work on to improve my game. Invaluable tips!”
“Without doubt the best Cricket Camp I have attended”
Player feedback from across the Indian camps was also strong ranking our "quality of Coaching Staff" as 4.8 out of 5 and Our venue location as 4.7 out of 5.
